Prep BBQ 2017

Thankyou for a wonderful evening to our parents, who were able to share, chat and mingle among other prep parents for the night. It was a lovely evening where all the families and students in prep were able to get to know each other more and possible make some new friends.

Save the Orangutans Assembly Performance!

Here are the Prep Students proudly explaining the global problem with Orangutans and their habitats! Well done preps, we are very proud teachers watching you all be inspired to help and support the orangutans. What a long list of things you have all done to help spread the word about clear labeling of palm oil. Fingers crossed the ministers of Australia make the right decision on the 25th of November!

If you would like to help the orangutans sign the petition below, it only takes 30 seconds:

CLEAR LABELING ON PALM OIL PETITION

Planting Trees To Restore An Important Habitat

The Prep teachers could not be more proud of our wonderful students. Throughout our study of orangutans – driven by them – we have learnt that we really can make a difference in the world, even at 5 or 6 years old. Our visit to the Melbourne Zoo was just the beginning. Students then researched facts about orangutans and their habitats. They started to think about how they could actually help them with their problem. On Friday 11th November, we raised awareness of orangutan habitat destruction and encouraged the school community to sign the petition to vote for ministers to make clear labelling of palm oil compulsory on food products. This way, we will be able to make an educated decision about whether or not we would like to buy products containing unsustainable palm oil. Thank you for supporting us.

We hope you enjoyed our presentation. If you couldn’t make it to assembly, please follow the link below to go to our Prep Blog. The video will be up by Monday 14th. Please comment and tell us what you thought of our performance.

After assembly we put all of the money raised by the Preps ($75.00) towards planting trees in Indonesia. We managed to plant 11 trees! We thank you very much for your donations.
