Games with our buddies

The preps enjoyed some game time with their buddies. The prep children played a variety of games while strengthening their relationship with their buddy. It was a nice time to relax and enjoy each other’s company while feeling good about beating the grade 6’s in many of the games!

Pyjama Day for the letter P!

The letter P was a pretty perfect letter to perfect. Today we turned up to school in our pyjamas felling very relaxed. Then we enjoyed watching our popcorn pop into our bowls and ate lots and lots. More food was to present itself, we couldn’t believe it but some very colourful pasta appeared in our room! Well what could we do with this than make pretty pasta pictures. The prep students had lots of fun learning all about the letter P.

Professor Maths!

Professor Maths visited Prep with the right formula. He entertained  100% of the students with a large fraction of the students wanting him to remainder for the whole day! The triple prep classes had the power with hands on learning to understand concepts of mathematics. Our visit had the precision of learning intentions that balanced our power of positive number challenges, filling the room with constant excitement!

Challenging our brains with puzzles made us count on each other with balancing our ideas and thoughts while working in small groups having equal thoughts and ideas to create our own shared success. We all had a positive and awesome experience!

2015 PREP BBQ!

On Friday the 20th of February the Prep’s held their exciting annual family BBQ. Parents, students, family and friends came together to celebrate being part of our school and the prep team. The smell of sausages could be smelt from afar as Mr Wight and VOLUNTEER  cooked up a sensational BBQ. The Prep teachers became very popular when handing out ice poles to the younger students and guests on the very hot evening. Parents and friends mingled as rich conversations help build new friendships and reunite old. This was even more exciting to find out that this year’s prep BBQ had the best ever turn out with around 200 guests uniting to help celebrate the evening.  Miss Vandervoort was delighted to see everyone participate in the “getting to know you” scavenger hunt and said this was a highlight of her evening getting to know more about her new and current exciting students and families. A very big thank to our PFC as this night couldn’t have been possible without your help.

Thank-you to our Buddies!

The prep students have been enjoying the moments spent with their buddies. They have bonded while eating, chatting and playing  together in the playground each day.  This has been a nurturing process where the prep students are able to settle into their new school environment feeling safe knowing there is an older student looking out for them. Friday was the last day our buddies will visit us each day, however we will still see them on a regular basis. Many more buddy activities are coming our way! Here the students came together to discuss the school’s 5 golden rules. Together with their buddies the preps reinforced their knowledge of the schools rules and drew pictures of how we could follow them safely. Thank you buddies for making our first moments at school a memorable part of our prep journey.

Our First Day of Prep!

The new Prep students arrived on their first day of school with big smiles ready for their first day. While they were nervous they were still very excited for the day ahead. The children explored the classroom as their families settled them into the prep environment with their teachers. New friends were made quickly and the preps were eager to engage in a wide variety of activities.

Prepb first day

All children settled in really well and then it was time to say goodbye to their families who emotionally waved goodbye, feeling proud looking at their child all grown up. They read books, played games with their friends, participated in number games,  started doing some ‘prep work’ and went on a school tour to familiarise themselves with the school grounds. The students were lucky to be introduced to their buddy and were able to spend time chatting with them while they ate their snack from their special lunchboxes. They certainly enjoyed spending time with their buddy who made their play in the playground a fun and exciting experience. The students also completed a drawing about their first day to take home and show their families. Before we knew it the families were gathering outside the classrooms keen to find out all about their first day!

Prepc first day

We are all so proud of our new prep students who had an amazing first day of prep and left with happy smiles excited to return next week! Your teachers Miss Rydberg, Miss Coon and Miss Connell are looking forward to an amazing year of learning and fun!
