Today we decided to make division a little tricky this morning. The students sat back to back, with one student holding the division cards and the other with the equipment. The students had to communicate with each other by explaining and confirming their understandings of division. Did you realise how important talking and listening is during learning?

PMP
Prep A have been really enjoying the PMP sessions held each Wednesday at 10:00am. The students have been discussing each station and what they found difficult. We have talked about different muscles needed to complete each station. The students are becoming more aware of their bodies and how to use them effectively. Thank you to Romeo’s, Zephyr’s, Josiah’s and Emilija’s mum for helping with the sessions. They have been a real success because you are there to support and encourage the students each week. We all appreciate your assistance!

Accurate Rockstar readers
As part of our CAFE (comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expanding vocabulary) reading program, the children are working on reading their words with accuracy. When wearing the glasses, the children know to try their best at decoding the sounds of tricky words and then re-reading to correctly read aloud the word.
Here are the Prep B rockstar readers in action:
Great writing Michael!
Went…. Let’s think of something else.
Today we brainstormed some words that we could use instead of went. Our learning intention was to make our sentences more interesting. I was blown away by the students list of words to use. I ran out of room on the board! I can’t wait to see these words used in our writing. Well done Prep A, a very impressive list!
Wet day writing!
Whisper Phones!
Prep A have been enjoying CAFE reading this term. Reading to self has become a more fun yet quieter experience. How are they quieter I hear you ask? Well they have been reading into their whisper phones, allowing them to really listen to ‘how’ and ‘what’ they are reading. It has supported their understanding of their books and reading more smoothly. They are really concentrating more too! Most importantly if they speak too loud it’s too loud for their ears! This ensures a quiet space to learn to practise their individual learning intentions.
